1977 to 2007 – 30 years of Recycling the Kaliko Way
Kaliko PVC-P roofing membranes remain as flexible today as the day that they were laid and are likely to remain so for the foreseeable future therefore our recycling programme contributes a relatively small proportion of material to the PVC-P membrane that we manufacture.
Kaliko D & Kaliko SF waterproofing membranes can contain up to 8% of in
house recycled PVC, depending on the amount of material available during each
production run, the exact proportion of recycled material in each membrane
depends on the overall thickness of the finished product.
The recycled PVC-P, which is used only in the underside of the sheet, is made up of:
Production waste is recycled hot in a continuous loop linked to the calendar
Excess unreinforced membrane from stock is heated processed and fed into production
Reinforced membrane is divided into 2 categories:
Unusable membrane is shredded and processed to remove any polyester
reinforcement then heated and fed into production
Useable membrane, sold by many manufacturers as seconds, is used to produce the Flex-Fix discs used in our mechanical fixing system.
Overall our 'green' credentials are impeccable.
